Parking disruptions on Hall Crescent

From next Tuesday 24 January, parking on Hall Crescent, between Mitchell and Copeland Streets, Lower Hutt may be disrupted as nine poor quality trees are removed along the street and as footpath repairs are undertaken.

This work may take up to four weeks, depending on weather conditions, and some car parks will be coned off and unavailable periodically during this time.

Hall Crescent residents will be able to enter and exit their properties but should expect some minor delays.

Hutt City Council never takes the decision to take out trees lightly, but as these nine trees are of poor quality and creating potential safety concerns by damaging footpaths, they are being removed.

We take a proactive approach to managing street trees across the city in line with our Urban Forest Plan. Our aim is to maintain quality street trees which look better and live longer. Well maintained trees are also safer and make an important contribution to the character of our city.

In the future, planting of more suitable tree specimens on Hall Crescent will be considered to replace the nine trees removed.
