Hutt City community awards

Nominate a voluntary group for an award and recognise their outstanding contribution to the community.

The Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards

These awards are an initiative of Wellington International Airport Ltd, in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington and the five local councils, and recognise the volunteer contribution from community groups.  There are five categories in which nominations can be made:

  • Heritage and Environment
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Arts and Culture
  • Sport and Leisure
  • Education and Child/Youth Development

Key factors considered during judging are:

  • Volunteer input
  • Utilisation of resources
  • Innovation and creativity
  • Effectiveness of activities
  • Impact within the community

The Safe City Community Awards

These awards recognise organisations and individuals who contribute to the safety of Hutt City through crime prevention and helping to create a safe city.  They are presented in partnership with the New Zealand Police, Armourguard and the Hospitality Association of New Zealand.  There are two categories: individual contribution and organisation contribution.

You can nominate an individual or any not-for-profit group, organisation or individual working in the interests of the community is eligible. You can nominate an organisation if you are a member.

Key factors considered during judging are:

  • Innovation and creativity
  • Effectiveness of activities
  • Impact within the community
  • Community engagement and involvement

Safe City Awards

Award nomination forms are also available from the council building on Laings Road and from our libraries and local community houses or centres.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 19 August.

What happens next?

A judging panel for each of the awards selects the category winners, who receive a plaque and a certificate at an awards evening on 22 September 2011.

Each Wellington Airport Regional Community Award category winner gets $500 and a certificate. The category winners from our city are invited to the regional awards where an overall winner is announced for each category and a supreme regional winner is revealed.
