Our purpose
We’re a group of passionate young people with a common vision: to contribute positively within the community, initiate projects for and advocate on behalf of our youth.
We meet every Wednesday and our meetings are open to the public – come along!
We:
- Provide advice to Hutt City Council on youth issues
- Support and contribute to youth-oriented activities and projects
- Advocate for the interests of our youth
- Raise knowledge and awareness of youth interests and concerns
Our projects
We’re currently:
- Coordinating events for young people with disabilities
- Working on intergenerational projects to bridge the gap between older and younger generations
- Meeting up to learn new skills
- Raising the awareness of energy efficiency within the council
- Running team building days
- Going to lots of cool youth workshops and conferences
- Catching up at breakfast meetings and talking about what’s happening in the community and what we can do make Hutt City a youth-friendly place
- Running and supporting community projects during the month of February 2011
What have we achieved?
- We campaigned long and hard to get a youth centre, and got it – Secret Level
- Late-night buses were introduced at our request
- The Melling Skate Park is now open!
- We’ve been going to Community Festival Days and finding out from young people what they want to see in the Hutt
- Lots of community projects around the Hutt Valley
- We hosted the first ball for young people with disabilities

Our teams
Youth Infusion is made up of five teams, based on areas of interest: health, values, arts, education, community. Each team has five coordinators and a team leader. Read more about our teams here:
