CBD development rate reductions
From 1 July 2011, most apartment and commercial developments in the CBD will be eligible for reduced fees on resource and building consents, development and reserve financial contributions, and rates. This policy provides a significant incentive to develop in the Hutt CBD - but it only applies until mid-2015.

Subsidies
We’ll waive or considerably reduce the consent fees for sustainable building alternatives like solar hot water, double glazing retrofits on buildings built before 2000, and rainwater tanks.
