Avalon Park

Hutt City’s destination playground park, offering a diverse range of active and passive recreation options for all ages.

Finding Avalon Park

Take the Avalon turnoff when driving from State Highway 2, over the Kennedy Good Bridge.

Finding Avalon Park by bus

  • The 110 bus from Queensgate and Upper Hutt stops at the Taita Drive entrance
  • The 150 bus from Petone station and Kelson stops at the Fairway Drive entrance

Parking

Parking for park users can be found along the access driveways from Taita Drive and Fairway Drive. No vehicles are allowed on the grass or garden areas.

 Our facilities

There’s something for everyone here, including:

  • An event area with water and power facilities and a stage with power sockets
  • A playground for under fives
  • “Spaceball” rope climb, flying fox, swings and slides
  • Beginners’ cycle circuit with various intersections and surfaces
  • Lions Club model train (charge applies)
  • Lions Club mini putt golf with ice cream and drink sales (charges apply)
  • Public toilets
  • Free electric barbeques, picnic tables and seating
  • Model marine boating pond
  • Public tennis court and Avalon Tennis Club
