Hutt City Council is undertaking a comprehensive review of its planning and policies on sportsgrounds, covering the provision, demand and need for the sportsgrounds and other specialist outdoor surfaces used by outdoor sports associations, clubs and casual hirers. In addition, Council wishes to identify issues that will require consideration and planning, looking forward 10 years. These may include issues such as the introduction of specialist artificial surfaces to ensure efficient provision of services to Council stakeholders and sustainability of sportsground provision. The report covers all outdoor turf based sports making use of Council reserve land and specifically excludes “indoor sports” such as basketball.
Consultation has been completed and we are now in the process of producing the final Sports Fields Review document for presentation to the Strategy and Policy committee.
